Groupe-pont -
YOUR BRIDGE TO BECOMING FLUENTLY BILINGUAL

You can apply for admission to the undergraduate program of your choice at UMoncton. As soon as you start classes, and for the entirety of your degree, you will be part of our French Immersion bridge program, the “Groupe-Pont”. Built to help students make the transition to a completely Francophone university, it offers many perks, including tons of academic support, that will help you succeed in your studies at UMoncton.

The program begins with four French courses (two per semester), specifically tailored to French Second Language students. These courses are credited as electives and will not extend the duration of your studies.

The opportunity to fully immerse yourself into the French culture and language by taking part in campus life alongside native-speaking students will also contribute to your success.

Contact Isabelle Bujold to complete a French speaking and comprehension evaluation: isabelle.bujold@umoncton.ca or (506) 858-4000 ext 4305

Following your UMoncton application, contact Isabelle Bujold, Coordinator for the Groupe-Pont program, to set up a quick obligatory meeting. She will give you all the information pertaining to this program, as well as guide you for course sign ups.

Isabelle will become a valuable resource throughout your studies at UMoncton. From helping with correction of your written work, to coordinating academic support resources, including tutoring, her door is always open to our Groupe-Pont students.

If you are a graduate from a Canadian French Immersion program, you are not required to take a French proficiency test, as we believe that you have all the necessary tools to succeed, in accompaniment with our added support.

Not in a French Immersion program? To be admitted to the Groupe-Pont program, your French speaking and comprehension skills need to be evaluated. • Transcripts must come directly from the school to be considered official and valid.
  • We require transcripts that contain grades from your 11th and 12th grade, or all those that include courses that go towards your admission requirements. If you have completed these years or classes in two or more schools, please make sure that all transcripts are sent in.
  • If you have taken a year off or completed any college or university education since graduating from high school, you must also send in a paragraph describing what you did during this time and/or any transcripts from your studies.
5.

Two to three weeks after submitting your application and transcripts, you will receive an e-mail informing you of the status of your application. If you delay receiving news, contact the Admissions Service by email at admission.cdem@umoncton.ca.
